I have my master cylinder mounted where it pretty much has to go, using mgb petals and a ford master cylinder. The ford reservoirs are plastic and fairly tall and they just snap into the grometts on top of the master cylinder. It sticks up higher than I would like it to (highest point on the scuttle), I would like to find a reservoir that is shorter but maybe wider or a remote one that would moved to a spot that could be under a bonnet bulge or scoop. Is there such a thing as a pressurised reservoir that could be mounted lower than the cylinder- seams unlikely as you could inject air bubbles into the fluid.
Or is this just too much work to try and lower the scuttle an inch and a half.

I have the same problem, my master cylinder is directly under my steering shaft. What can one do to get something to fit into the master cyclinder and then you can mount the tank where it is accesable.

Aslo using Cortina master cyclinder.

I needed a remote reservoir for my build, went for a rummage in a local scrapyard and found this.
From an Alfa. Also noticed another useful looking one in a Saab.

Thats probably what I have to do as if I move the reservoir to the center of the scuttle, and farther back toward the cockpit I can gain an inch which might be all it takes, I would like to keep the highest point on the scuttle just under 30 inches from the ground-with 6 inches ground clearance.

Only your fluid level in the resevoir needs to be higher than your master cylinders - not necessarily the whole resevoir. So you should be able to mount a remote resevoir where you want with some flexi hoses.

So if I use a different reservoir that is bigger around than the origanal, as long as the volume of fluid that is higher than the input to the m/c is equal or greater than the volume that the original reservoir holds it should work ok. I could easily gain an inch that way.

Do those elbows fit into the Cortina master cylinder?

What model and make Alfa are they from?

I don't know if the elbows will fit a Cortina MC, (I don't have one) but the diameter of the elbow is 13mm.
The Car was an Alfa 164.
