Hello, Im new. Whats a De dion axle set uplook like? Is it possible to use the sierra trailing arms (ala Pilgrim sumo) to give IRS??

Dedion is a funny old fashioned thing that vintage cars used to use!
Has anyone used the trailing arms from a sierra / granada sun frame. Pilgrim pivet these to give IRS on their Sumo. Why hasn't anyone done it
with a locost??
Kieran
i suspect that might be rather heavy for a lightweight locost 7.
The Sumo, isnt that the cobra replica? ie its gonna have a stonking great v8 in it

I think Joel used them in his first design. Robin Hood also use them in their 2B and Tiger use them in their Tiger Cat E1.
The rear subframe assembly from the Sierra initialy looks like it might save a lot of work, but it will require considerable chassis mods to fit, and it is very, very heavy, and also too wide. If you look at the RH and the Tiger you will see the ugly bulges in the rear wings where the subframe assembly sticks outside of the chassis. Avoid it and stick with either a live axle, de-dion or IRS as used by MK, Luego, MNR etc.
And is very low isn't it Joel!
