Sierra brake drum kit

Does anyone know where to get a brake drum kit with new shes and components etc for a Ford Sierra rear axle?I have now got to the stage of fitting the rear axle and need to replace the brake drums as they are SO rusty....

Well just a stab in the dark, but Sierra Brake just turned up about a dozen sets of shoes, wheel cylinders, drums and back plates.

Halfrauds were doing a clearout recently, I got a set of shoes for £7 !

worth having a look to see if they have any old stock.

exactly which parts are you after?
brake shoes, drums, cylinders and spring fitting kit can be bought from any car part place, maybe even halfords.

Back plates may be more tricky, could try car parts place, Ford dealers or else s/h from breakers, magazines or ebay.

How rusty are your drums? Can they not clean up inside and out? Should be possible to do - then meaure internal diameter, if within spec, they should be fine to use.

I'll probably be slated for this but to clean the inside, fit old shoes, jack up rear end of car and let them be driven at idle and depress the brakes to wear down the rust. You should get a nice clean surface, even if it is slightly dimpled, then that is like having drilled front discs!! (ok not quite the same but close!). To be honest, unless you are really strapped for cash, new drums is the answer.
