Hi all wot is the thread size on steering rack to tie rod (ford ) need to cut and retap new quickrack Lenny

You can not tap new threads of the same size on the tie rods! The original threads are rolled rather than cut so the diameter of the tie rod will be too small for tapping.

Just FYI the Mk2 Escort used M14 threads, the Mk1 used an imperial fine thread (9/16 UNF maybe??)

the rack is full with and i need to cut the rack to468mm long and retap the end to take the tie rod

If you need to shorten the rack, it should be done in the middle, ie shorten the rack gear and the casing. If not you'll get horrendous bump steer. The track rods need to be longer.
MK shorten sierra racks for their Indy AND supply extensions to get the track back.
