I got a K series rover 75 engine stuck in the back of my renault 5, but the wiring looks a mere. Is there a simple way of buying an ECU and bike
throttle bodies and chucking it on?
any tips or links would help.
Any off the shelf ECU that can do squirt and spark should be able to get it running. For throttlebodies, you could try and get some off a couple of
sets originating from a triumph triple and get custom manifolds made up.
Short answer is yes - it can be done but pretty much everything will need to be bespoke and uncharted territory.
FWIW, I think QED did some development on this engine a while back - may be worth contacting them
Tom New's hillclimber runs a QED tuned 2.0 KV6
Sounds totally mega.
Big budget though - big big budget.
The BTCC MG ZS runs a 2.0 KV6, there's quite a bit of potential in these engines I reckon.
Megasquirt will run a V6 quite happily, as would virtualy any aftermarket ECU I would think. If you just want the simplest path you should be able to
retain the original injection, just connect it up to an aftermarket ecu and go for individual throttle bodies later on.
If retaining the original induction note that the 2.5 and 2 litre KV6 have different induction sytems the 2 litre was a low power poverty spec without the variable inlet tracts controlled by stepper motors.
