Wheel Nuts.. Escort/Sierra + Alloys
Ben_Copeland - 24/9/03 at 07:18 AM

I have noticed that the MK1 escort axle i have fitted and the Sierra Front hubs have slightly different wheel nut / stud threads !!!??!?!

The Sierra wheels nuts go on the Escort studs, but not visa versa and the sierra nuts not 100% fit on the escort studs.

Now, i have just bought a set of capri alloys (7inch wide ones) and need a set of wheel nuts for these (cos the escort/sierra ones will not be any use)....

What i'm wondering is will a set of capri wheel nuts fit on the sierra studs..... (the nuts will be the "special" ones with rotating bit to stop damage to alloy) or will they be the same thread as the Escort studs and so not fit the sierra ???

Also why the hell did they change the thread in the first place
Cheers

I'm more likely to find a set of wheel nuts on a later ford with alloys..... so the likely hood is they will be the sierra thread ?????!!!!

The studs on the Escort Mk1 axle are 1/2unf and on the Sierra 12x1.5mm, i.e. the don't fit. Change the rear studs for some metric ones from Rally Design

Hnmmmmm where did the other posts go

P.S. the sierra wheel nuts DO fit on Escort MK1 axle Even though the threads are slightly different.

Sod off Ned... someone's been deleting posts !
