Hi Guys,

I’m building a MKII Striker, it will be mainly used on the track, I’m putting a 2.0l Zetec engine in it.

It’s using MK 2 Escort front uprights and has a live rear axel. I’m looking for:

A couple of sets of wheels one old and maybe one new (minilite type) 13 x 6, I think the offset is 18-23.

I also need a brake master cylinder or cylinders, what should I go with?

I have also been recommended the following:

185/60 13 with AO48rs and Wilwoods from Rally Design. The BK1R kit gives you 265mm solid discs, aluminum 4 pot calipers 
and all the mounting hardware for £200+vat. As for pads, Polysport A’s.

What do yo guys think?

I have the same brake set-up on my Striker. Because the car is so light (even in '7' terms) the standard M16 callipers work well, but they are very heavy. The Willwood kit is very well priced, but pad choice is a bit limited.

The pedal box in the MK2 Striker uses modified Mk2 Escort parts, including the master cylinder. You can fit a balance bar and twin master cylinders if you wish but space is quite tight so the standard box will need to be modified. Don't do what one of the previous owners of mine did and make your own balance bar from a small spherical bearing welded directly in the top of the pedal, and bit of M6 threaded bar When I saw the banana shaped balance bar I immediately chopped the lot out with an angle grinder, and I'm now in the process of redesigning it.

I'm running the original stock brake system (though fully overhauled) and using Hawk plus pads and escort GT shoes - stops like it's hit a barn door... and will do so all day.
But you can certainly spend as much as you want on this one..

Single master cylinder with a pressure regulator on the rear.

When you say 'Track use' is this competitive? as A048's are MSA list 1B.
If not then it's a good choice, however if you're planning on doing any motorsport you may want to consider 15" rims to give you a better choice of tyres from the MSA 1A list (Toyo's or Marangoni's)
