I am (was?) planning to go on the Newlands to West Wittering blat tomorrow and went out this morning to check a few things: wheel nuts, coolant and
fuel clips, etc. etc. I was looking under the back end and wondered what the loose bit of metal hanging off was... answer: broken trailing arm . The
bar part has come adrift of the tubey bit with the bush...
So... has anyone got one going begging, or has the wherewithal to weld it back together? Am willing to travel within reasonable distance from
Sevenoaks if it can be today - big ask, I know, but the summer's been so sh1t this summer that the prospect of a drive out is very welcome.
Edit - forgot to say it's for an Escort Mk2 axle, if that wasn't already clear
Edit again: not sure if this is a standard size, but the arm appears to be 33cm/13" bolt centre to bolt centre
U2U or email me (buttons below)
Thanks in advance
Simon

I guess I am to far away
per Google maps 128 miles/2.5 hours each way...
I have a welder and can probably fix it although I did not make my own suspension, so it will be at your risk!
Has it actually broken or the weld failed ?
It will obviously have to have its original length.
All that read this can be witnesses.
U2U me fast as nothing comes between me and GP qualifying at 2.10pm
You really need another piece of tube for the end , which I have not got but a first aid type repair could be done , I guess.
But I must stress I do not want to be sued by your family!!!
I can weld it for you if you want to unbolt the arm and bring it over, 1/2 hour away in Wadhurst.

Might want to get busy with a wire brush and paintbrush whilst it's off
Thanks to Dave and Mark for getting in touch. Thanks very much to Mark for the welding - it is really appreciated, and I'm looking forward
to being able to go out tomorrow on what might be the last day of summer...
Cheers,
Simon
also, MikeRJ... already done what you suggested!
