Hi, have been trying to get hold of and old, (english), Mini rear brake valve, but none at local scrappy, and new is by special order and definately NOT locost, (£114). Does anybody have one they would like to turn into some cash, preferably the cast type, OR, does anybody know if there are other cars that use a type that could be converted. THanks Ray

One of the fiats uses an ideal valve. Will try to dig out which model.

The Mini valve isn't really suitable anyway as it comes out the box the line pressure it is setup is far too low and gets older with age and if you try and make it adjustable the internal spring becomes coil bound.

So to convert it you need to change the internal spring for a harder one with fewer coils.

Things move on better valves are available -- Fiat Strada (aka Ritmo) and Lada Riva use a valve that is even cheaper to buy than the one fitted to the Ritmo.

Some Peugeots and Ford Escort vans are also fitted with suitable load sensing valves.

Thanks guy's, looks like it's the Fiat Uno one then. Not sure if I need it yet as haven't tried the car since removing the ABS rear limiting valve, as I was getting hardly any rear braking. Cheers Ray
