CJ,

It means that for every 3.7 turns the propshaft does, your wheels go round once.

3.7 to 1,the prop will turn 3.7 times to every 1 turn of the road wheels

There will be other ratios available but I'm not the best person to ask what they are, I'll leave that to someone with more knowledge than myself.

However, what you want to do is work out what speed you'll get in each gear given your gearbox ratio and rev limit, also think about your peak power band.

Just seen your question re the Manta (which I have no idea about, my next door neighbours had the GT version once upon a time when I was a nipper). I seem to remember people on here saying the gearboxes being sought after for bolting upto a certain engine, cant remember wot engine tho!

Anyway, getting to the point I was gonna make... 3.7 is a fairly average/mid range diff ratio from the list of the various ratios available so it should be a fairly safe bet.
