I think the Mountney range of wheels are quite popular so hopefully someone can answer this one for me.
Does the Sierra steering column lock work on your boss? The teeth inside mine are only about 2mm high, and are no use at all as a steering lock! If
you look inside the std Sierra wheel the teeth are bout 6mm if not more!
Cheers
All I can say is mine works OK with no mods
Mine is fine too.
Cheers guys,
Could you pull back the rubber cover bit and have a look to see how big the teeth are for me?
Cheers
I have the same problem, The teeth are too small and the lock just skims over them.

Mark, your car is SVA'ed isn't it?
How did you get through?
Cheers
My boss works with the Sierra column but it only locks in one position. It doesn't have teeth it has one key with a flat end that engages in a square cutout cast in the boss. The locking mechanism is part of the column and is spring mounted so it engages when the slot is turned over it.
Northy,
The steering lock is there as an anti theft device. I simply put an immobaliser on and it was fine. If I remember correctly I put the immobaliser
between the feed to the coil and something else (sorry) but as long as the car can't start unless deactivated then it's fine.
Mark.
Sorry can't be any more help.
So are they all like this then? I've attached a picture of mine to show how small the teeth are. Shall I send it back?
Cheers

Thats the same as mine. The Sierra column device catches these teeth (but not all of them for some reason on mine) and locks the wheel. The small square cut out on the steering boss is to fit into the indicator cancelling device bush.
But Fifer, they are no where near as long as the ones on the std Sierra wheel! The steering lock on my column just skim over the top of the teeth, no
locking action at all.
Perhaps the steering lock is worn, I'll have to investigate.
