Hi everyone. I have just started work on my car again after a long break to buy my first house. (now i am skint!). I wondered if there are any really cheap seats out there? I have seen a few aluminium efforts that look cool. Is there a way of making these at home from scratch? Or is there a way of cutting and shutting a "euro-box" seat? Any suggestions welcome (as long as they dont cost much) ;-). Thanks.. Dan

do they have to be ali... if not bin liners and handy foam spring to mind if you want a CHEAP seat

My initial seats will be foam and binbag! you're looking at £40 worth of materials to make 2 seats with enough to make to cockups!

(later mine will be replaced with carbon ones from Triton!!)

No, the fabricated seat doesn't have to be ally, I have made them from steel sheet in the past. Heavier than grp/carbon but way lighter than most aftermarket seats, and incredibly strong. The seat in my grasser is steel and extremely comfortable even with no padding (believe it or not!) it's how the seat fits that makes is comfy, not the padding. An unpadded seat that fits like a glove is really very good.

I did mine of some plywood, foam ans some vinyl
