Brushed Aluminium

Just made a gearstick, handbrake and exhaust surround from ally.
I've got a nice brushed finish on them from my nylon mop.
Any suggestions how to keep them that way, I 'm not much of one for polishing anything?

I've made similar things for my car. The only proper way is get them anodized, it's not as expensive as you may think.
Failing that look at a product called 'Glisten', its made by the same people who make POR 15.
Frosts stock it.

I've just had a brushed ally dash surround made up.

I've ordered up from Frosts Diamond clear coating

http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?productID=7939&frostProductName=Diamond%20Clear%20for%20Bare%20Metal%20Surfaces%20(340g)

Says it'll go staight onto Ali - (I understand you'd normally have to etch ally 1st, for the coating to take to)

I'll let you know how it goes

Best to get them clear anodised, if you are not in too much of a hurry I can speak to my mate Clive (Custom Solutions) and he can put them in with the next lot he gets done.

Either that or your near neighbour
Mr Marlow (Ultima) gets a lot of anodising done, I can ask if he can chuck some extra bits in if you like.

Thats a shame, If I weren't in a rush.... I only work at the other end of the rd to Ultima (back of Morrisons)

Check this link for details on doing it yourself.
