New Acewell digital dashes available
russbost - 8/5/09 at 07:06 PM

Just to let you all know there are some new dashes now available from Acewell.

The 3251 is an upgrade from the 3250, is just a fiver dearer at £115 (less your discount of course), has a faster processor which will accept the speedo signal from some gearbox sensors, the facility to display "n" or"r" on the digital display (rather than on the warning light surround) for neutral or reverse & more versatility on the fuel gauge settings

& with warning lights

The 2859W is a new unit which was previously only available in a "pod" for motorcycle use. They have now made it surface mounting so you can sit it in a hole in the dash, the unit is just 70mm in dia, but does speedo, tacho, clock, fuel, shift warning etc. & comes with 6 warning lights built in, all for £115 9less discount!). About the only thing it doesn't do that you might want is temp gauge.

Was just asked the following very relevant question, my reply attached below.

quote:
Hi,
Your thread re the above is very interesting. Does this clock leave the speedo registering permanently? The reason I ask is that I recently read on site that someone had failed SVA because the speedo reading could be switched off to obtain another reading of whatever. If speedo permanently registers it would be worth advertising this fact and besides I shall then be in the market when I've progressed further with my build.

Hi Geoff

Only just taken delivery of these units,, my Furore F1 passed SVA this January with an Acewell 3250 & warning lamp surround, so far as I am aware with both that &these 2 newer Acewell units you cannot operate the "mode" button to switch display whilst the speed sensor detects a signal, so I can't see that there would be a query at IVA. With the 2859W in the top row where the speed is displayed it displays only speed or max speed since last reset (which I think you can only check when at rest) so I believe when in use the speed is permanently displayed. If there was an issue re IVA with this it would be very simple to make a clip to slide behind the mode & reset buttons in order they were inoperable.

Thanx for pointing out the potential problem, I think with "picky" issues like this it very much depends on your tester on the day
