When the r1 came out in '98, it was the fastest road bike around at the time

apologies for the (mini) hijack - Lurch does that come with cradle etc?

Personally I reckon for ease of install, availability and low running costs the carbed blade is the way forward - for slightly more power the R1 takes it but the early ones did have quite fragile clutches and boxes.
For bang for buck I still think the blade is hard to beat but that is only my own personal opinion
We have supplied and run loads of blade packs over the years and they throw up very few issues
