Upright piano - free to a good home
chrsgrain - 5/5/10 at 08:50 PM

Hi all,

Slightly off topic (!) but my parents (based in Bognor Regis) have an upright piano (made by Burling & Mansfield), which apart from a slightly dodgy caster on one corner, and needing tuning, is in good condition, and is available free (or small voluntary contribution) to a good home.... collection preferred...

U2U for more details

Chris - I placed my old piano on FreeCycle and had lots of interest.

Sadly didn't ever get any joy from Ebay or any free ads.

Good luck

Also try phoning local piano teachers.

Thats how we moved our old upright on to a good home when it was upgraded.

I tried everything and anything to get rid of an inherited one.

it needed tuning and as such no one was interested.

in the end we had a garden party, got it outside, played it for a bit while setting fire to it. awesome party was had by all.

You could try contacting a piano tuner/repair bod, as they sometimes like to blag parts off old pianos for repairs.

Shamelessly stolen from Pistonheads!:-

"Just picked up a piano I bought for £50 off of ebay last week.

The guy told me it didn't have instructions for reassembly I thought this would be okay as the Internet has instructions for pretty much everything nowadays.

The good news is it fitted in the back of the five.

The bad news is that the kit looks a bit more complicated than I had anticipated.

Does anyone have experience of assembling these things or even better the instructions. It's a Cramer.

Also the guy told me that when it's reassembled all the rough edges will be on the inside. I hope that's right because there seems to be a lot of rough edges.

Thanks in advance for any help. It's urgent because my Daughter has her level 3 test on Friday.

Here's a picture in case it helps...
