Fisher Fury bonnet - cracked so FREE
peterrosey - 12/3/08 at 02:43 PM

Fisher Fury bonnet big hump classic type. Has been walloped into armco at Cadwell so needs repair. Has light cracks over the top, crack over one arch and damage around the lower edge nearside.

Could be repaired if you have the patience!

Free to the first person to collect it from Nottingham. And no I won't post it...

I'll leave it on here for a week or so and them chop it up and feed it to the wheely bin if its of no use to anyone...

Cheeky questions, but I don't suppose there's anyone going past Nottingham on their way to the South who can pick this up and bring it closer to Reading?

Happy to pay petrol contribution...

It measures 1.55m x 1.45m (5ft 1in x 4ft 9in) and I collected the new bonnet strapped to a small box trailer. Roof rack might work, but doubt it will fit in any cars - van or trailer best.

Out of interest was the damage limited to the bonnet or has it also done the scuttle / area under windscreen in a bit as well?

The bonnet popped up off its latches and tapped the windscreen wiper spindle, which then cracked the windscreen and flexed the scuttle slightly (couple of hairline cracks and a bit of back-glassing needed. The rest of the body was unscathed.

I've now bought some better latches - the black nylon Aerocatches (which are beautifully made) - so the bonnet will at least act as a crumple zone. So next time it'll probably break the scuttle properly!

As I've gone for a race-spec bonnet this time around it'll probably explode in a shower of fibreglass strands if it even grazes an armco, so it's probably fairly academic!
