wtd: solderable copper olives
cd.thomson - 1/6/09 at 08:53 PM

sorry for posting two wtds in one day, but I could also do with some of those solder-on copper olives for the connection between my rubber fuel hose and my copper fuel line.

Anybody know of a small volume supplier, or have any going spare? my copper pipe is 8mm ID.

(and steve if you read this.. I have taken your comments on board and will be avoiding using 3 jubilee clips at each join! )

on 8mm pipe?

cd.thomson - 2/6/09 at 07:16 AM

I'm sorted now guys, rotax is sending me some.

Although the bead maker is very snazzy, I'm not sure it would fit inside my pipe and because its for fuel pipe I would like a continuous band around the lip to prevent leakage.

if its only 8mm why dont you just use a brake pipe tool to flare the end? the set i have does up to 10mm.

Buy or make a tool like the one in the YouTube video.

B&Q do those Pliers, at £13. (Metal Oyster Kit B&Q part no 0000003344668

None in stock near me

You could weld a blob on a set of molegrips and cut a slot (or drill the right sized hole) in the other jaw to make them.

Simples... chk (and typically Locost)
