WTD - Laptop Memory - SODIMM PC133
MikeR - 24/1/11 at 11:52 PM

Evening folks,

Trying to get the g/f old laptop going and its strugging with 128mb of ram. Anyone got any SODIMM's going spare? Need PC133, no idea if CAS2 or CAS3.

512mb preferably but will happily take 256mb. Beer tokens waiting.

(yes i know i can get 256mb new delivered for 8 quid, but i thought i'd try on here first)

cheers.

I have one ancient 256 x 133 sodimm in the 'come in handy box' you can have gratis if no one else comes up with some bigger ones.

Just a thought but will the laptop take a 512MB SODIMM for example. I've got two very slim Compaq laptops which are only held back by being limited to 386MB RAM.

Not sure what it will take, Toshiba don't cover it on the 'obsolete' models section. Its got a celeron 1300 cpu, 20gig hard disk, legit windows xp ..... its not a bad machine apart from only having 128mb of ram and no built in wireless (got a pcmcia card for that).

Hoping that getting some 256's and a 512 along with the existing 128 would mean i've got all bases covered. I just know that my old 256mb p3 750 memory (sodimm but 100mhz not 133mhz and no idea if cas 2 or 3) doesn't work

P3 machine is pretty good apart from either a noisey fan or hard disk (has built in wireless)

Mike, i have something in my hand that might interest you.....

No, not that....
Ive got two laptop memory sticks, one samsung pc2700 256 meg CL2.5
and a nanya PC2-4200s 512 meg
Ive also got a mini pci wireless card but no aerials.... dunno why, just have.

all of which are yours if you want them.

Brooky, i'll u2u and we can arrange for me to pop round. Suspect they won't work as they'll be too new, but no harm in trying. If they don't work i'll send you a u2u Dusty and we can sort something out.

Cheers guys.

if you dont get sorted.....

goto www.crucial.com/uk and put your model numbers in

it will tel you exactly what ram you can put in and the max per slot.

Ive got piles and piles of ram at the office, let me know and i will have a dig through (there is definatley some 1gb chips in there, if they are 133 i dont know)

Unfortunately crucial don't cover the laptop if you enter in the 'numbers'. Have found out some of the details via another memory company. As i've not put the machine on the internet i can't download their tool (which is probably the next step if brooky's memory doesn't work).
