Westfield SEiW Zetec Off Side Engine Mount...URGENT...PLEASE!
lordbenny - 29/6/15 at 04:41 PM

Mine snapped today,I'm have a road trip planned with my daughter who is over from Australia for just two weeks. Westfield have none in stock and have a two week make/powdercoat and delivery date on a replacement.

PM or Call me on 07976 929843 if you can help.

Are they not just standard type engine mount bobbins? Like the Landrover type ones? Any half decent motor factors will have something similar on the shelf.

CRAIGR - 29/6/15 at 05:07 PM

If it was anything like mine it was the metal part of the mount that cracked and nearly snapped. Can you not get it welded up and braced ?

lordbenny - 29/6/15 at 05:23 PM

This is what it looks like....can it be welded?

ian locostzx9rc2 - 29/6/15 at 05:32 PM

Could be welded up looks a pretty poor design might be worth checking the one on the other side aswell

Yes it can, where in the country are you? If your are close to me I can suggest a decent fabricator who would do it while you wait

dilley - 29/6/15 at 05:42 PM

I'm in Cambridgeshire, I'll reweld for you....

lordbenny - 29/6/15 at 06:19 PM

Sutton, Surrey, SW London. I'll try a local place tomorrow.....will the weld be strong enough?

Mark100 - 29/6/15 at 06:20 PM

you can see the original weld was stronger than the nearby material.
edit, and brace it a bit if you can.

Done correctly, it will be stronger than the original. I had the same issue with mine and it's still going strong a few years after I tweaked it

Ooops I missed that one,. too far from me,.

As per previous, a good weld will be more than good enough, and any concerns get an additional brace added.

good luck

Found a welding place 1 mile from my house!!!

http://www.specialistweldingservice.co.uk/contact/

He's quoted £60 to fabricate a new base plate in 6mm steel (current one is 5mm) use the old plate as a template and weld it all up. About the same price as a new one from Westfield and it will be done in a couple of days. Can't complain about that!

ragindave - 30/6/15 at 09:24 AM

One was forsale on the Westfield forum.

I think that's for a black top zetec and not a silver top one. It's not the same as mine.

Note - although that looks different, it will fit - it's the newer version that sits to the left of where your current one will have gone to allow it to fit Blacktops (oil filter position). I have one of them on my Silvertop.

You can just see it here:

Well, you learn something new every day! As I said, my local welder is fixing mine so I think I'm sorted. Thanks for all your invaluable replaces though guys. X

Funny that when I asked Westfield themselves if it would fit I got this reply....

Hi Andy
No unfortunately they are different.

Sorted with an extra 1mm thickness on the plate. Courtesy of SWS http://www.specialistweldingservice.co.uk/contact/

perksy - 7/7/15 at 08:25 PM

Not the first one of these that has failed and they are worth checking whenever you do a nut n bolt check of your westfield

kingster996 - 8/7/15 at 10:52 AM

Looks like oil pressure sender cut out is missing? I assume you have relocated it?

lordbenny - 8/7/15 at 01:06 PM

Oh yes!
