wanted - 50mm fuel filler pipe and a locking cap
JoelP - 26/6/05 at 07:17 PM

i need about 5 inches of 50mm fuel filler pipe (not what you expected after reading the title!) and, you guessed it, a cap. With a lock.

But i dont want to spend a fortune on the cap. I appreciate that the pipe will probably need to be new, anyone know who stocks the stuff cheap? And anyone know of a scrapyard target for a lockable filler cap?

Cheers!

Think Auto, Merlin Motorsport to name a couple for the pipe

ebay for the cap?

If you've built it out of a sierra, and still have it, you could use the locking filler cap off that and fit it in inside the boot.
We canabalised the sierra fuel filler neck with the locking part and it fitted onto our Mk plastic tank relatively easy.

I think I have a locking cap, no pipe though and it will need a plate fabricating to lock onto - any use?

Pat...

very much use pat! think auto say its 30p for the filler pipe, i assume thats per inch but will ring them in the morning. Does your locking cap have something to lock into?!

Joel

I can help you out with the filler pipe. I bought a load at Stoneleigh, but only used about 4 inches on my build. The neck of the filler cap meets the neck of the tank so I have loads spare. I'll pop it in the post tomorrow.

I got my locking filler cap from Tifosi, not bad for the money (about £35 IIRC). Included a moulded plastic mounting ring, cap, funnel and breather.

Sorry to hijack your thread but is it ok to use fuel pipe from a scrapper? All the pipe ive seen for sale looks like aircraft quality at about £2 an inch. Most car pipes are only rubber with cord reinforcing.Does the SVA specify a BS number or something.
