I'm after a GOOD quality pipe flaring tool, preferably with a hydraulic action, for 3/16" (5mm) brake pipes. If you've got one kicking around the garage that you no longer need u2u me.

The expensive ones have a cam action like this and are a bit on the excessive side for doing one off jobs.

Iv got a sykes pickavent one like that. Bloody good. Theyr sometimes on ebay cheapish.

I bought a cheapy off ebay and it caused more grief than I care to remember. Go for professional quality even if its only for a few jobs

I used a kit like this for my build - it works fine and I chieved a leak free brake system on the first attempt. As with most hand tools it's worth a few practice runs first.

One tip I learnt was to dip the end of the pipe to be flared in some brake fluid or light oil before flaring. This lubricates the former/pipe and helps produce a better quality flare.

As above, the lubricating is a real good tip.

We do this as a matter of course on refrigerant pipes in work.

cut the pipe square with a pipe cutter and ream the end so the die fits easily, only push enough pipe through the clamp to do the job as in the instructions and you will get perfect results. Take the die off and run the taper down the flare to create doubles. I used to have a Moprod one which worked well but it wore out and I haven't seen one anywhere else.
