Wtd (buy/borrow): Engine crane
RichB - 13/12/07 at 12:25 PM

Hi

Does anybody have an engine crane sitting idle in a corner in the P'boro/Huntingdon area?

If so, can I borrow/hire/buy it off you please?

I will probably need it for a few weeks (which will turn into months as usual).

Many thanks for anyone's help.

Rich

might be able to help, I have an engine crane sitting around doing nothing. I live up the A1 near grantham but I'm going down the A1/A14/M11 this evening to visit my girlfriend. Any use at all?

have you considered dropping the engine out the car or vice versa? That’s how I removed my v6 and gearbox, only needed a jack and some blocks. Just remove the engine mounts, rase the car and roll it back, easy.

Cheers Benzine u2u sent.

Mr Whippy, I need the crane to get the engine onto a stand initially and then fitting later on, but it's a good ideal.

I've found 2-3 people can lift most engines quite easily, there mostly hollow...

slight snag with this reasoning is that the non hollow bits are effing heavy!!

Ah well - its gotta be said........ build a BEC and you can pick up the engine / gearbox on your own!!

or use a rotary engine, get twice the power of a BEC and can still lift it on my own
