Just been told that Halfords are doing a set of 15" wheels and tyres for £159ish. They are multispoke jobbies apparently.
Might be good if the wheels are ok.
The tyres that come on these Halfords deals are fit only for the bin I am afraid, they are positively dangerous.
My mate just got a set for one of his mantas and the tyres were horrendous!!!
You saying there's something wrong with Hankook (Hankaks) or Nanking?
Cheers,
James
There cant possibly be anything wrong with those tyres - they are made in the same factories as Michelin, Pirelli etc dont you know................
£160 is still cheap. You could flog the tyres for £20 each on ebay, replace with Toyos for £40 each and still get a set for £240 all in. It cost me
more than that to refurb my wheels.
Andy,
Can't find them on the website.

I don't know if car tyres are same, I would think they are but bike tyres have a mould release agent on them when new and are lethal if not
treated with respect till it wears off. Did you get the Golf engine sorted James?

assuming the gauge / sender are correct !!!!
(thats a semi serious commment)
it is at this point i'd like to let everyone know this engine has done over 200,000miles and we (newlands lot) all think james should stop wasting his time with it, but sadly he seems to have a high sentimental attachment this golf and it's engine
I just so happen to physically pick up one of these wheels in Halfrauds and it weighed an absolute ton! This was without a tyre on as well! The
inside face that mates with the hub didn't look like it was flat and they had made in China on them.
I suspect you're getting what you pay for with these.
Some of their deals have Falkern tyres on and they are pretty good when scrubbed in.
I bought a set of 17s with Toyo tyres for £250 as they were shop soiled. Actually all that was wrong was the centre caps were missing!
They were Ripspeed which I think are their own brand? Actually quite well made and were easy to balance.
I went into Halfrauds, asking about alloys. I need ET19 with 108PCD which is the same as Peugeot except that the centre bore is different. I asked about fitting Ford spiggot rings to Peugeot intended wheels - they said that they couldn't do that as they were not insured (?), and that only the expensive wheels had offsets, and as I was enquiring about cheap ones with no offsets at all, they would be fine.
