thinking of replaceing the xflow what are these motors like standard bhp etc

also what would twin web 40s work on it like

another thuoght will it go straight on a type 9

whats the difference between black and silver in other words which is the most powerfull

The black top is newer but I don't think there's much if anything in the power. Mine was rebuilt very recently so I would say is a better option than an unknown Mondeo!
This engine, on 45's was showing 190BHP on the last rolling road session although that may be a little high.

The blacktop is harder to fit as the water pump complicates things.

didn't the blacktop have solid lifters so was better for really high power?

This is a very vague memory so please don't quote me without checking.

Yes the black top has solid lifters as standard and produces around 10bhp more than a silver top, as the head is flowed better.

The engine should be able to achieve 190-200bhp with a change of cams. The silver top would need more work to produce this.
