Apparently they were just for family and friends of the company - stoopid eejuts

Have a look at the small print and you'll see that the offer is only valid on single transactions of £500 or more and only redeemable against wines and champagne.

Don't know about you but if I were spending over £500 on alcohol, I'd go on a booze cruise to France and save a whole lot more than just 40% on wine and champagne

ok, I'll admit I didn;t even read it but from what BBC says, it shows how quickly the internet spreads the word 800,000 hits on the site ... and speculate that even with that discount, they may still be making money.

coincidentally, i was in threshers just now and the lass on the till told me about this! Im sure they are still making a healthy profit, and the publicity is even better. However, all good for a laugh

they constantly run a 33% off offer (actually a buy two get one free), so its only an extra 7% off. Still good, but not as amazing as the news stories make out.

They had an item on the BBC early evening news saying that even with 40% off it's only done to roughly the same price as Tesco's
