What thickness steel should i use for a steel fuel tank, going to have a bash at making one myself.

Thanks

I used 18g for mine but I think I would go a bit thinner to 20g for another one as it would be easier to bend the corners.

I use 18g, as it's about the thinnest that I can weld. Find that I blow holes in anything thinner. HTH Ray

I hope yours turns out better than ours, it leaked and we had to find another use for it

At least it was warm

My Alli tank had a pinhole in one corner ( I made it then a pro welder zipped it all together for me) so I sealed it with the POR tank sealer from the Frost catalogue . so far so good

Have u thought of using Stainless steel? better finish, no need to paint, no rust, easy to weld with a Mig if slightly more expensive
