hi all have been looking for a compressor but not really sure what to get
it will be mainly used for building the car so what sort of tank should i be looking at and max bar is there anything else i should know too
ps will proberbly be using it to spray the car too cheers adam
have a look at some tools you might be using like spraying equipment, impact wrench, air sanders etc, look at thier required air feed in cubic feet per minute. Get a compressor capable of delivering this amount of air. Also look here http://www.mgcars.org.uk/news/air-compressors-buyers-guide.html
Id go for at least 12 CFM anything less than that will run out of puff using airtools.
If its just for a bit of spraying Adam you can borrow my small compressor what with you being a fellow Stokie an all.

Whats been said is all correct, there's no subtitute for a decent CFM rate, but be carefull, the CFM that is important is expressed as free air delivery which is alway less that the headline CFM that's claimed for the compressor.
These days the only real use for compressor is inflating tyres.
Forget about using air tools for things like impact wrenches the cordless tools are so good these days that the air driven ones just look old
fashioned noisy and clumsy.
Drills, sanders and grinders are better mains driven.
For spraying an HPLV spray station is the way to go -- much easier to get decent results with and produces virtuall no overspray and used 1/3 to 1/2
of the paint.

I agree with Trident really, there is no real need for an investment in a compressor and airtools, why fire up a 3 horse compressor to drive a sander
when you can just plug one into the mains.
