2nd that

tegwin - 22/5/09 at 12:54 PM

It cant be art.... it has form and function!

Art has to have no function other than "being"

Give me all the top of the range gear and a large workshop with a couple of months practice and I recon I could do that...

Very shiney!

I know of a few people who can weld like that and get the 'fish scales' look down to a tee. They all have 20yrs+ of welding experience and its all they do day in, day out though!

If only I could too!

Mr Whippy - 22/5/09 at 01:24 PM

quite amazing, just a joy to look at such workmanship

JoelP - 22/5/09 at 01:28 PM

damn!

NigeEss - 22/5/09 at 01:30 PM

That is obscene...porn on a public forum..

wilkingj - 22/5/09 at 01:35 PM

Very Nice, but there are a couple (at least) on here who can weld as good if not better. (Can I still come to the BBQ)

stevec - 22/5/09 at 01:44 PM

Wow, you would only need a tiny bit of filler to smooth those over.

Steve.

WOW!!!! quality work!

fesycresy - 22/5/09 at 04:27 PM

My mate can weld to a similar standard, I won't say better, because it looks pretty perfect to me

My mate did his time welding in the nuclear industry - no room for muppets there.

eddie99 - 22/5/09 at 04:42 PM

Impressive

Wow, that’s impressive. That took some time to learn such a skill.

COREdevelopments - 22/5/09 at 07:20 PM

From the post i thought it was going to be a pic of pigeon poo!! I had a hell of a shock when i seen that! I would love to weld like that!

Very, very nice welding. Large beads as favoured over the pond.
Here's something we made earlier featuring ace welder Eldon on duty. He favours a smaller bead size and has recently invested in a new TIG set with variable frequency to further improve quality.
Geoff.

mistergrumpy - 22/5/09 at 11:36 PM

That's really nice but I think the complexity and finish of it all sort of adds to the whole thing and over exagerrates (?) the welding. I dare say there are people on here who can weld like that.
As for art, it's something I've though about for quite a bit now and that is what I call art due to the fact that it DOES have function. Surely it's an art to get all them shiny machined pieces working in harmony together and to get a still glimpse of them is, well art.

Simon - 27/12/11 at 09:19 PM

Prefer a smooth finish meself - he could have gone over the top with the tig torch and smoothed it off
