I have one of
THESE brake flare kits but have lost the instructions....
Anyone know how far the pipe has to protrude through the clamp to get the correct flare??

For a single flare ( female ) - level with the anvil.
For a double flare ( male ) push the pipe through the anvil the height of the large diameter of the mandrel .
Hope that makes sense.
Rob
male is single flare, double for female,i leave the diameter of the tube protruding
I'm busy doing my pipes at the moment (well not actually at this moment but you know what I mean )
And now I'm confused, when you say male and female, are you referring to the fittings? And also, which is it, one says male is single, the other
female??
Help
I just stuck it out of the clamp about 5-6mm, pop the plug thing into the end of the pipe and wind the screw down on it..
Did the same for every single connection on both my cars... and no leaks yet...
Take the smallest die with the nipple on it and push the brake pipe through the hole in the clamp till it is level with the flat on the die. Tighten the wing nuts on the clamp and place the nipple on the die in the end of the pipe. Put the point on the cone into the recess in the back of the die and tighten the threaded bar down till the die will go no further for a single flare or remove the die and tighten the point into the pipe without loosening the clamp for a double flare.

most cylinders or T pieces have a female hole so you put a male end on the pipe, putting 2 male or female flares together will cause leaks and is
also ghey
So....do you make a single flare to fit into a female union, or a male union? i.e. is a single flare known as a male end or a female end?
single is a male, female is double
Cheers chap
So male used for the female union (nut) and female used for male union (screw - i.e. onto flexi-hose with male ends)?
JB
Shape the pipes how you want them then take it to your frendly local garage to make the ends for you for some beer money.
Anything got to do with brakes let the pros to do it. Especialy brake pipe flares.
Just my two cents.
