... I have a decent set of cycle wings on the car, but they're that nasty looking CF Effect material (which I hate!).
Anyone ever tried painting over this stuff? How did you get on?
I could quite easily test it, but right now the wings are worth one or two quid if I flog them... but 50p if I try to paint them and it fails
miserably!
just give it a go, and if you mess it up get some real carbon ones from carbon mods!
Will destroy them tomorrow Daniel!
PS - Do you have a pair of the CM wings? If so, how have you found them? I only ask as the set I got a couple of years back were pretty poor
quality.
i sold the carbon mods aero arches for the wrap around mnr ones! but the quality was very good
I do like the wraparound ones!
When you say 'CF effect material' do you mean a vinyl skin or something in a clear gel coat? If its vinyl then just peel it off and if its the latter, then a good coat of etch primer followed by your choice of topcoat should do the trick. If its textured then lots of elbow grease will be needed.
U-pol plastic primer primes ANY plastic, I sprayed my ABS air box and it sticks like poo to a blanket
Cheers!
If you fancy some wrap-around arches, I understand that TMC Motorsport can now supply a version much cheaper than MNR.
I think you should just have a go
then sell them to me for 50p
not that I am in wayway trying to push you into doing something just so that I can gain much needed parts for little money
U-pol plastic primer for a fiver with free p&p
Cheers... I've decided just to leave them and get a new set.
For sale if anyones interested? £12 delivered?
Silly question really, but what is so bad about them as is? They are bound to get scratched eventually anyways, and from a distance they look grey/black anyhow.
I just really dislike fake carbon fibre.
