My locost saw bench that I made out of a workmate and a circular saw has bitten the dust..

I'm loath to buy another circular saw as its on its second one now and suspect the position of the motor doesnt like the influx of sawdust...

So, I'm thinking of a belt driven blade with the motor on the outside. However I can't find a design for the required parts to have a pulley and belt system. Possible cause I don't know what to call it!

Anyone point me, or let me know where to buy the parts required? Was thinking of a couple bearing blocks with a shaft, pulley one end, blade the other. That make sense?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Have a look for pillow block bearings on google, they might be what you are looking for. A shaft with a pulley on one end and a blade arbor on the other would do the job.

Is it possible that your motor just isnt powerful enough? My table saw is 2000w, my circ saw will be around 800w i guess.

Its a big circular thing, 2200w, I bought it to cut 9" x 3" joists.

You could always connect the hoover pipe to it to extract the sawdust
