TIG Welding Gas Lenses & Long Shrouds
r1_pete - 16/9/13 at 01:34 PM

Welding up my manifold over the weekend, some of the welds were really awkward to get at with the standard torch and shrouds.

Did a bit of googling and found some info on gas lenses and long shrouds / nozzles, which look as though they could have been useful.

Does anyone use these, do they make things easier, any reccomendations for suppliers.

Cheers.

Pete

Yes they can make all the difference, best ones i bought were a stubby lens and a short back. Google R-tech welding, very helpful and ok on price

Using a short back cap can make it much easier to get into confined spaces. Also using a smaller sized torch with a flexi head can make a world of difference like a WP-17F , as most tig plants come supplied with a WP-26 rigid neck torch

I use a small wp17 water cooled torch, much easier to get around, just made up a water pump from an old central heating pump and water reservoir.

It made everything much easier.
