AVG free is also good if you have any problems with Avast

And dont forget you will need some kind of removal tool from McAfee as you cant just un-install Norton AFAIK .

Mcafee != Norton.

You should just be able to uninstall your old AV, reboot, and install the new.

You'll have a little while without protection, so avoid too much interwebbing during that time.

Also, my AV vote goes for Nod32. not free, but IMO well worth the money.

If you mean Avante, then yes register it, it's free and they don't spam you either. When you register you will be sent a 'key' to activate it beyond the 60 days.

AVG used to be good until version 8 - then it just got too bloated and CPU intensive.
