More work pc problems
speedyxjs - 4/6/09 at 02:44 PM

One of our clients (the computer not customer) has developed a problem in that when one tries to access internet explorer the computer restarts.
Am i rioght in thinking it is a virus of some kind? We have tried scanning with AVG and Ad-aware but they have found nothing.
Any idea's?

Possibly a corrupt add-on in Explorer, try reseting explorer to default settings. (Tools>internet options>Advanded>reset)

Cant do that either. As soon as the homepage loads, it resets itself

Edit - just found it in control panel. Seems to work now but has just crashed

see if firefox will work, and then probably be worthwhile uninstalling and completely removing ie if you can, then use firefox to download and reinstall IE?
might work unless whatever causes the problems is keeping itself seperated from IE

What version of internet explorer are you running?

What happens if you load internet explorer without an internet connection?

Depending on what version of IE, you could try starting in Internet Explorer (No Addons) mode, from Start / Programs / Accessoies / System Tools

Then if that works download firefox or google chrome until you can get someone to take a look.
