Hi,
Our 5th anniversary is soon and I thought I;d treat the mrs so she can surf the net whilst watching telle - she loves to multitask!
Anyone got any recommendations or (decent) comparison site that has the current crop in there.
I think it is between the Dell mini10v, Acer Aspire One d250 but open to other suggestions.
Want decent battery life - not too fussed on OS as I will prob install the new linux google OS when the time comes.
Thanks folks.
I bought my daughter a "hewland packard mini" netbook for christmas, it seems to do everything yuo would expect it too and battery life is very good . hth m.
Bought an Aspire One last August, very pleased with it so far. Excellent battery life
and the only criticism (a minor one at that) is the glossy screen is crap in bright sunlight.
I bought a Samsung N130 from ebuyer great price and fast delivery It works well as it should and has great battery life better than most.
Samsung NC10 was the gadget shows winner when comapred against an HP & Acer I believe.
Writing this on mine now and have been extreeeeeeemly happy with it all the time Ive owned it
Another vote for the NC10, although i don't particularly rate the battery life. I think you can get a bigger battery pack for them.

Acer, and e-Machines are both owned by Dell
Hi, I use an Advent 4213, as capable as most of the others with the advantage of a built in broadband dongle if away from the house (with a suitable
sim card).
But for battry life look at the small philips laptops some do 4-5 hrs on a charge.
my dell inspiron 1010 seems pretty good and a good battery had it about a year now with no probs
These are V good for battery life.

Just got a compaq from amazon for £200, I really like it, its very light and very quick, I'm using it for uni work and was a bit worried at first that it may be too small to comfortably read articles and write assignments but actually its very good; nice sharp, bright screen, good battery life (had just over 4 hours out of it watching videos on youtube) and a very comfortable keyboard thats close to full size despite being a small machine. Would get one again without doubt.

Acer One (150GB HDD) running Full Ubuntu (LINUX) = Brilliant Machine

We bought a Compaq Mini 110C for £179 at Christmas from caprhone warehouse.
It's a great little machine.
Don't know who has them at the best price now, but I suspect it won't be for £179.
the wife bought me this for chrimbo so dont know the price its a samsung n130
running on xp i love it battery lifes good and personally think its better than her acer aspire one bigger screen too
its also good as i dont like vista or seven the kids have those also a small thing but worth noting we bought the boy an advent milano from pc world
it played up after less than a month had it picked up by a courier after hours on the phone came back after another week un fixed!
apparently the warranty doesnt cover the bios battery they wanted us to pay £20 to have it done bought one for £2.50 fitted myself
so pc world are out of favour at mo

I'll put in a vote for a Toshiba. Bought mine in December and it was the best value for one i liked. Only real difference between them in the
looks and keybords.
Battery life is excelent, a genuine 9 hours. it's mint for mapping. Even when the battery inicator looks low, there's still 3 hours left.
