solidworks help
Miks15 - 15/3/10 at 04:16 PM

Hi guys,

Ive done a model in solidworks for some uni coursework. And i have to hand an isometric drawing.

The problem is that when i press the isometric view button it gives me a view of the underside of the assembly, not of the front bit which i want.

Does anyone know how i can change it so that i have the isometric drawing of the right side of the model

Cheers guys

Re do it using the correct planes? I think you can make an assembly. Import the part and attach it onto the opposite plane and then the isometric view will be correct. Wont work if this is already an assembly though.

Cant you just drag it to the orientation you want, whack the spacebar and add a new named view? You can then pick that in your drawing as a view, bit lazy tho!

Press space bar to bring up the view box thingy, find the front view you want, then click once on front then click on update STD views. Do that with different views until it's constrained enough to give the iso view you're after.

Then wont it mess up the views in every other part he ever does in Solidworks?

Not a clue tbh, i doubt it though. I'll have a look.

TBH, I've only just figured it out. It's something i've wanted to be able to do for ages, but never really got round to trying it.
