Hello all,
Got a fujitsu siemens laptop and it's duff
It had a bit of a fit and shut itself down but now when I switch it on it shows the screen with a fujitsu siemens logo where in the bottom it says f2
for boot options and f12 for bios or something like that then it just goes to a black screen, not off, but black if you know what I mean.
If I press ctr alt del it returns to the fujitsu siemens logo screen and then goes back to the black screen.
Help!!!!!!!!!!!
sounds like possible hard drive failure.. on boot press f12 and see if you can see a hdd or any tests in the bios screen
I pressed one of them before and it did a test thing and it went to 99% no fault found but then it froze there for ages.
Is there any way to gett all my crap off the hdd like pics etc?
Don't care if I have to buy a new one, I've also got a tower of that works fine despite being 3 times the laptops age, can I plug the hdd
into this or something?
Just pressed f12, got IDE cd DVD ram something as option 2, option 3 is Sata hdd, option 7 is pci bev realtek boot agent and option 8 is legacy
network card.
Oddly, there are only option numbers 2,3,7&8.
Whatever one I select it goes to black screen.

Actually options 2&3 result in black screen, options 7&8 result in a message saying operating system not found
Bugger...........................
You should be able to buy a caddy for your HDD which you then plug into a USB on another computer to try to get the pix etc off.
can you hear the HDD on boot up on your laptop? If it's not spining then it wont work,.. Trip to a specialist data recovery, or, well there are
other less certain methods,..
If it is spining then it maybe that it's lost some boot sectors and if that's the case the external caddy will help, but you may also
require some recovery software
sorry I can't help further, I hate it when it happens, very frustrating
As already said, best thing is to buy a HDD Caddy and use another PC to get the info off. They are pretty cheap now I got one from the Bay for around
£12! Just make sure you get the right fitting (SATA or IDE) as below:

Cheers, I'll get a cradle I think. Just started the laptop and the hdd is spinning so I'm optimistic lol
Thanks
This might sound daft but remove the dvd/cd drive. I had a similar problem and found that the mother board connector for the drive is faulty and as it boots it creates a conflict and freezes. Gotta be worth a try as its free, usually only 1 screw to remove.
Thanks for the suggestion but that didn't work
I have one here im not useing, is it SATA or IDE? Or you can have both, send me enough for a pint and p&p and ill post them up.
I'll let you know how I get on soon as there are a couple of peoPle around here that I know that may have them, I managed to get one off my bro
today but turns out it's IDE and I need Sata, still a few mates I can try though
Cheers for the offer v kind, like I said I might take you up on it
