That little logo thingy next to http://www.whatever?

As you can tell by the title I'm right up to speed on this subject. Not.

OK so what's it called first please? If I knew that at least I'd have a fighting chance of Googling the answer to my next dim question before asking you kind people. The thingy I'm talking about is the green and yellow 7 on LCB before the address up the top of the page...

So, my next dim question is: How do you fix one of those up please?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Hi Mike,
Its called a favicon. The dimensions tend to be around 16 x 16 pixels. The way to display one on your website is to create one and drop it into the root folder of your webspace. May take a couple of refreshes or emptying your cache to see it.

WOW! Four minutes and I am sorted!

Thank you guys. Will get right on it...

WARNING

Mike will now try and do this, make a big mess and then come back asking for help

Or maybe not

Thanks again,

Mike

First, create a square image as a PNG, then save it as 16x16 pixels.

PNG allows you to have transparency.

Once you've done that, rename it from Picture.png to Favicon.ico

Drop it into your root folder and you're sorted.

If you're trying to do this on a blogger or wordpress site, there are different ways of getting it done..

Wonder if it's big enough for a pair of somethings
