I downloaded some torrents which contain files that I don't know how to deal with; one has the extension .iso and the other is called Serial.nfo.
I presume the Serial.nfo contains the serial, but which program do I use to open it?
How the hell do I open/install the .iso files? I read somewhere I have to burn them to disc then do two somersaults and open them in another drive
...or something similar.
Any help would be appreciated.
IIRC the .iso is a file created with nero etc as an image of a film etc. They have to be put back cd to open. Nero will write them. I think it tells
u about them in the nero help thing. If not do a search on google for iso files. I found a site that tells you how to use them.
The .nfo is an info file i think. It will open in a strange way using xp in internet explorer...
I had loads of these when i was downloading some dvd's

the NFO is just plain text usually. notepad will do it. (open notepad, and drag and drop the file into it)
Don't just burn the ISO to a disc using XP cd burning software, you must use an image burning software (like Nero).
Adam
.iso is an image of a cd, use a burning prog such as easy cd creator or nero to burn it onto a disc..
Easy, open nero, click copy and back up, click burn image to disc add files, off you go.
Aint got a clue with other burning software, Nero is the dogs and dead easy to use, open the NFO with wordpad if your using XP.
Cheers,
Bob
Thanks all. I'm off to bed now, but I'll give it a go in the morning and report back here if I have any problems.
I have a piece of free software called Virtual DAEMON Manager which lets you load image files as a Virtual CD drive so you don't have to burn it
to disc.
Its usefull for testing downloads before wasting discs.
Alcohol 120 use's a virtual drive as well u just mount the iso, and browse or install from that if you do not want to burn it.Use notepad to open your nfo file Sure u can find alcohol 120 from your torrent site
Nero is indeed the dog's danglies!
I've also downloaded Alcohol 120% for a bit of a look see ...thanks Jonno.
I have a further query though; how do I access files with the .bin and .cue extensions?
Rorty - using Nero
Go to copy and backup section. Click on 'Burn image to disc'
place bin file into directory. the other gets accessed by it and writes as a proper ISO disc or DVD
Beaut! Thanks Hellfire.
get a program called daemon tools this will mount any image as if you had a virtual cd rom drive then open the image file as if it was a cd rom drive remove the contents eg: vob files if its a dvd then use nero dvd video creator say for instance to burn it back that way you truely can use nero for all image file formats
Alcohol 120 also deals with .bin and .cue extensions as well, u can browse or burn ... does sound a bit like Virtual DAEMON Manager as Chrism is on about.
