I have been experiencing some problems 'backing up' my CDs by downloading torrents.
They used to download very quickly, maybe a year or so ago. Then they just refused to download at all.
Tonight i tried again for the first time in ages and it has begun downloading, but i am only getting speeds of about 5-6Kb/s. I remember getting
speeds of 80-100Kb/s before.
I have switched off my Windows Firewall. Should i try removing my NOD32 anti-virus?
Is there anything else i could check or do?
Thanks
i reckon you isp has throttled you torrent rtraffic
depending on your client you can disguise your traffic by encryption
Well its funny you mention that, because i have only just a few days ago changed from Tiscali to BTinternet.
I used to get good downloads with Tiscali, then it stopped altogether. Now changed to BT it is working but very slowly.
How do i disguise what i am downloading?
Any suggestions?

try using azeurus (sp) as the client its pretty easy to tick a few boxs to enable encryption
Also if the torrents are from a public tracker (no sign-up or download/upload ratio) they'll be sloooow.
What you need is a private site where you sign up, usually lightening-fast...
can you recommend any sign up sites that are not already packed to the gunnels?
Just signed up, first download I'm getting over 500kbps , I've never seen over 100 before! 3 hrs for a 6Gb download, that usually
takes me days.....
Thanks for the recommendation, know where I'll be getting my torrents from now!
thanks jasper,
i just signed up to and immediately im getting over 300 kbps!
got to download 24 seasons 2-6 and at 8 gb each it may take a while.
