have you heard his music? he calls it neoclassical rock, though it changes over the years. It is music without bounds.
Malmsteen is a very good musician. The G3 tour has to be the one to see when it come around again. Satriani, Vai and Malmsteen .
However for sheer skill you cant beat Slash and Zakk.
Though I have some awesome videos of Vai playing some awesome tunes (mainly improvised solos)

cracking song... some bits sound like maiden in places, but with the arpeggios it sounds very much like malmsteen. Good sweeping, something i never really mastered, at least not at speed.

Is MAB really the fastest guitarist? He doesn't seem that fast from that vid.
Fastest I've seen are:
Francesci Fareri (Click for link)
and
Rusty Cooley (Click for link)
Fast doesn't mean nice-sounding though My favourite guitar player is John Petrucci.
Already had this argument with someone and I found a link to the Guitar One list of top 10 fastest guitarists. MAB is at the top. Cooley is about 7th

MAB has done some much faster stuff than Speed Lives/Kills. Its just the tune that most people know.

fast enough, but as you say, speed is nothing. Neither moved between scales enough for my liking, infact rusty seemed stuck in a melodic minor for his
first lick! Cant detract from the talent though, im sure both understand scales better than me did like the arpeggios at the end of rustys bit.
