MK Indy

I have riveted the side panels along the top rail of the car, but when I have come to due the lower edge the is a 10-15mm gap between the chassis rail and panel edge return. What most of you done, made up a spacer or something?? Any suggestions welcomed.

I cut up some strips of 3/4" thick rubber sheet (from Woolies trim suppliers) to pack the gap before securing with self tapping screws, penny wahsers and PU adhesive.

I used rivnuts along the bottom and packing washers.

hi, the only photo i have not got, but i will try and use other photos and explain.

glued and rivet the panel on, i jacked it up after both panels where on and dryed, and then i runed a bead of black tiger seal in the gap, between teh floor and the side panel edge, so it packed it out and smoothed the edge off. up until teh engine bay bit.

and then at the engine bay bit i drilled the fiberglaas and the chassis rail and rivet it to that with no spacers or glue.

and what it looks like when it is up in the air.

Thanks for that guys, particulary Stuart for the pics. Am I being too simple or would it not be easier if MK just made them slightly smaller to give a nice tight fit.

Lets not talk about the bodywork shall we.
