Side vents in bonnet.

What have people done for vents in the sides of the bonnet?

I want to get some of the heat out and cant decide wether to get louvre type things or drill holes in the side and mesh it.

Piccies would be nice.

I used metro one in top of bonnet to allow more heat out as opposed to putting them in the sides

MM hadent thought of on the top.

I don't know if you've got a grp or an ali bonnet, but here's what I did: B&Q ali louvres let into the sides of the bonnet

Only issue with vents on top at the back is if something lets loose under the bonnet.

Smoke / Steam in the face....unless you have a windscreen, of course..

Here's mine. The cutout edges have now been clear lacquered. I made a simple 2 piece press tool from MDF to shape the mesh to fit the cutouts. The mesh is now painted black and the vents are glassed to the inside of the bonnet. Rescued attachment Bonnet Vents 1a.jpg

STM / Aries have them as standard on the sides. I really should open mine up sometime... never got round to it....

I had some underbonnet temperature issuses so I added these vents - made very little difference to the coolant temperature though Rescued attachment bonnet vents.jpg

I put some vents in the nose cone just in front of the bonnet and also at the rear of the bonnet which did drop the coolant temperature . Water Wetter will also help.

I will be using some BMW z3 vents along the side of my bonnet, like has been said above vents in the top means that water/fuel/fire/smoke all end up in your face if something goes wrong. here is a photo of the vents taped on.. will be trimming off the bmw logo thou and move them back abit.

No pics as yet but working on an idea to put in scoops behind the front wish bone s
with some out let further down the engine bay this should keep the air flow moving in the eng bay .
