do the small lightweight race cans make any real difference to the performance of 7's if corectly mapped? i have seen loads of yoshimura and akrapovic cans for good money and wondered if it was worth the outlay? apart from the obvious weight loss!
Probably, but they tend to then fail on noise.
My R1 Quill T3 can came out as 103dbA so failed sva.
Even if you use a different one for IVA (99dbA limit), you will probably fail on a trackday or race circuit.
its for the road only and passed sva with loan cat/silencer. we have very friendly mot stations around here too! lol
I've gone back to my quill post sva
its an interesting vehicle you have martin! i really really would like to build something similar one day. its the cost of building a one off that puts me off! think i may go for a nice carbon can + some quality ear defenders! lol
Mine was only expensive because I wanted a new reg and used all new parts.
I'm pretty sure you could build one for between £5000-£7000 if you were resourceful
£5,000.00 - £7,000.00? jesus.i was expecting double that ammount!
It just depends how much you can resource and mileage of engine etc.
Most of the running gear is rover, brakes, hubs, wheels, handbrake. (custom made carriers)
If you move the steering rack you could probably use the rover one too.
You could fabricate your own aluminium seats.
The most difficult bit for the diy'er is the 4 side rails. These cost me £250 to have them rolled (they supplied material).
The nose would be a challenge but not too bad.

Daniel, are you sure you want a race can? I have a scorpion race can which is bl**dy loud and it is starting to do my head in.
Remember @ 60mph you car will be doing somethink like 5/6k and with a race can on it really rattles you brains out even with ear plugs!!!! I would
advise you to get a nice large repackable can which will still really sound nice but you will still be able to drive it longer that 20mins without
doing your brains in.
