Side screen hinges
Bluemoon - 31/1/10 at 05:24 PM

Hi all,

I am looking for some stainless steel (or crome ect) lift of hinges for side-screens. I have some Caterham plastic ones but they look far to weak to hold my 1m long lexan/ali ones I want to build.

I have in mind something like these CBS ones linky, but being tight they are far to expensive!

Any ideas of other suppliers?

Thanks

Dan

The Caterham ones are okay- I used them on my side screens. Only problem is that my screens are light and so the screens ride up on the hinges and evently come off!! Not the best. I ended up using some engineering grade string to hold them down.

Sounds like gravity will do this for your with your heavier screens!

Ditto.

Mine are long lexan and ali jobbies and the Caterham hinges are fine - I milled some ally blocks for the rear of the side screens to rest on when closed though but no worries so far.

Europa spares - they were about £8 odd for the set when I bought some last year!

....5358 look like suitable jobbies. Can't work out how you get the price though, maybe a phonecall is in order..

Thanks prawnabie, had a look at them but are they really galvanized? That would look nasty when the get old and oxidized, or are the actually zinc plated?

Might give the catervan ones a go first from the sounds of it, but add rest at the back to take the strain off as jambojee.

GeoffT good find, 5358's look the business, I check them out.
