Same happened to me 2 years ago. First I tried fitting it in the passenger footwell but it slid around and was distracting during spirited driving so now I've fitted it behind the passenger seat, never had to worry about speed bumps or mobile camera's since

^^^ quite right, just stick what's left of it behind the seat and have done with it

Just attach it with some piano hinges and a spring....
