Hey Guys,
Just about finished off my scuttle and dash, so thought id post up a few pics. Its all made from hand (apart from the stainless inset for the clocks
and switches).
Scuttle is a steel frame wrapped in ally sheet. Dash is ally with a 3mm ally support strip on the back for strength. Also has bolts glued into it
which pass through brackets and nut on the back so no fixing will be visible from the front once the dash is wrapped in foam and viynl.
What do you all think?
Looks like a really nice job - I would like to replace my GRP scuttle with an Aluminium one.
What are you doing for the bulkhead into the engine bay?
Have you made that panel too?
Got any photos?
I'm primarily interested in how you formed the step for the bonnet to sit on
nice one looks awesome
I'm impressed - well done. 1 question - where does the steering column go?
Justin-
I have made that panel, how ever it is just a flat panel. The lip for the bonnet is on the actual scuttle. I cut out a 3inch (around there anyway)
strip which was then riveted to the inside of the steel frame.(you can just about see it on the last upside down photo). When i comes to fit the
bonnet ill just pack it out with foam to get the correct fit. This way it is the exact same curve as the scuttle itself.
Mike-
Im gunna steer with buttons Nah im just about to cut out the hole now, thought id get some shots first. Hopefully the next update pics itll be on
the car with wheel and side panels. Wont be til april though thanks to uni.
Nice job even got a rolled bottom edge for IVY !
