is there any alternative to fitting poppers to the hood? and screen ? just had the hood blow off while driving home...eeekk!!

Could you attach a channel along the width of the screen and sew a rod of equal length into the front of the hood? You could slide the rod in from the side. that wouldn't come out.

Bugger! my cross-hatchings are labelled the wrong way round. Switch rod and channel around to correct. Oh, and don't mind my spelling.

I think Caterham use "lift the dot" fasteners for their windscreen frame hood fixings.

if you want to try ChrisR's idea, the C-channel is available as an extrusion (comes in different sizes and with mounting flanges at various angles), and the metal rod is usually a boltrope sewn into the edge of the material. Standard stuff for yachts and awnings.
