Is it possible to fit front cycle type wings withought using bolts i.e. bond it to the metal supports? Has anyone done this? if yes, how did you do it and how long has it lasted??

Only joking!!

firstly i made the bars out of of 5x25mm flat steel bar, any thiner will break

Secondly, apply araldite or similar two pack adhesive to the top of the bars (that the mudguards sit on)
place them exactly were you want them, and wait to cure,

take of whole mudguard assembly, and flip over, then apply fiberglass matting over the bars, and on two the mudguards

Job done

12000 miles later, ive not lost one yet!

However, now and again, when i take the guards off i do give it another fiberglass matt over the bar, just for security!

patent pending
regards

steve

I've used window screen adhesive .. strong stuff..

I just used sikaflex (or similar PU adhesive), couple of really big thick strips on the top of the mudguard support, tape two wooden blocks on to the tyre (front and back) to ensure the mudguard follows the line of the tyre, then just lay the mudguards on to the supports/blocks and leave to set.

Need to make sure the mudguard is given a very good clean / key up whre the adhesive will be.

Cheers
Davie

I bonded angle ali on to the cycle wings with windows screen adhesive then bolt into the wing stays, this provides some shock buffering and done see any of the surface cracking alot of people experience

I asume you dont want to use bolts to avoid the unslightly finish they give?
If so try the 'big heads' described here
